ABOUT LETHWEI

Lethwei is a Burmese bareknuckle combat sport that is created nearly a millennium ago in modern day Myanmar. Archaeological data dates the earliest form of lethwei to the Pyu Period, which lasted till the mid-11th century. Evidence of early lethwei-style fights can be spotted in the temples of Bagan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Today, lethwei is practiced throughout Myanmar and many parts of the world. It is widely considered the most effective striking martial art.
